By the Numbers: New Titans WR Josh Reynolds

    in General Discussions

The Titans have officially agreed to terms with former Rams wide receiver Josh Reynolds, according to the team:Titans agree to terms with WR Josh Reynolds (J_Rey_11)Details» 1It a one-year deal. Monetary terms of the contract have not been released. This is an interesting signing. Reynolds is just 26 years old and is coming off his best season as a pro. Reynolds recorded 618 receiving yards on 52 receptions in 16 games in 2020. He added two touchdowns. Reynolds did some good things in L. A. despite often playing behind talented and more established receivers such as Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks. In Tennessee, he is clearly the team No. 2 receiver as things stand, and will look to replace a decent portion of the production that was lost when Corey Davis signed with the New York Jets earlier this offseason . One thing I really like about this signing is that Reynolds has basically already played in this offense. Todd Downing will make his tweaks, but there no denying that the baseline traits of the offense will remain the same. Arthur Smith put his spin on the offense that was originally installed by Matt LaFleur, who was on staff with Sean McVay in L. A. Reynolds mentioned the familiarity as one of the reasons he turned down more money elsewhere:With the Titans, he wants to provide a deep threat, and more. Since the offense in Tennessee is similar to what he did in Los Angeles with a lot of play-action and zone running , t is almost going to be a little plug and play with me, Reynolds said. ltimately, I am ready to go. It shouldn be that hard adapting to the playbook. I am ready to go. ou can read more about the signing and why Reynolds choose the Titans here. Let take a deeper look into how PFF graded Reynolds throughout the 2020 season . Targets: 77Receptions: 52Receiving yards: 618Receiving touchdowns: 2Drops: 2Yards per catch: 11. 9Rushing carries: 1Rushing yards: 5 WR with at least 20% of league-highest volume are ranked. Overall grade: 65. 7Receiving grade: 66. 2Rushing grade grade: 56. 6Those are some solid numbers. I imagine the Titans will spend a relatively early pick on a receiver in the draft, but it wouldn surprise me to see Reynolds have a strong season in 2021.
